Popular media can display Christianity in its worst light, while many behind the scenes are quietly reflecting the ways of Jesus. Today, religious and political forces unite. Yet don’t let the headlines fool you. That’s not Jesus.
Join us as we examine and reclaim the Christian response to our LGBTQ+ neighbors.
In this episode, you’ll hear from two of my favorite bridge-building thought-leaders on how we find unity amidst disagreement, and our Christian common ground in loving our LGBTQ+ neighbor.
Brit Barron
Brit grew up in an Evangelical megachurch, trying to fit inside the lines of a narrow view of God. All that changed when she fell in love with her now wife, and left behind those boundaries to find the more vibrant life she lives today.
Brit is a sought-after speaker, storyteller, and author. Her 2020 book Worth It captures her journey of overcoming fears and embracing your best life. Her 2024 release Do You Still Talk To Grandma? explores how we can hold to our deepest convictions without losing relationships with the people we love. She’s quite a renaissance woman, recently selling out two stand-up comedy shows! Brit and her wife, Sami, live in L.A. with their dog Charles Barkley.
Kristyn Komarnicki
Kristyn is the Director of Dialogue and Convening at Christians for Social Action, and creator of their Oriented to Love program (OTL), which facilitates dialogue on sexuality and gender within Christian communities. Kristyn directs OTL’s confidential dialogue retreats as well public storytelling events, workshops, and trainings.
Fascinated by what happens when we approach our “other” in the posture of learning, Kristyn helps people have more generative conversations. She reframes conflict not as something to be avoided, but as an opportunity for maturing in Christ and finding unity amidst disagreement. Kristyn recently moved to France with her husband, yet returns to the U.S. frequently for her work.
