MTR Connect is a gathering of curious Christians seeking to make things right with LGBTQ+ people.
I for one have much to learn when it comes to the transgender experience. In August, we will have back-to-back episodes focused on transgender awareness and advocacy. On 8/15, we’ll learn from our trusted friends Lucas Hall and Grace Thomas, who will share their amazing journeys and discoveries around gender and faith, and what they are seeing God up to as it relates to transgender people in the church and beyond.

Lucas Hall is a gay, transgender man with deep and passionate faith. He grew up in a Christian household, having served in various ministry roles since he was 18. Being aware of his gender and sexuality since the age of 12, Lucas faced debilitating exclusion from both family and church, leading him to deep depression and multiple suicide attempts. After his gender transition began ten years ago at age 27, Lucas found new hope, unwavering faith, and a zest for life. He just completed his first year in seminary, and serves as a youth minister at an LGBTQ-affirming church where he helps young people find the hope and acceptance found in Christ’s inclusive and abundant love.
Grace Thomas is a committed follower of Jesus with a call to ministry. She is also a trans woman. She served 32 years as a pastor in a conservative denomination. During that time her two youngest children came out as gay. Deeply committed to loving her sons and following Scripture, she has spent hundreds of hours investigating the best scholarship on both sides of the LGBTQ divide. She now works tirelessly helping parents discover that they can love God and fully embrace their LGBTQ children just as God made them.
