Mark Wingfield serves as executive director and publisher of Baptist News Global, with 4.5 million readers annually. As a contributing writer as well, his 2016 article 7 Things I’m Learning About Transgender People went viral, and launched him into becoming the most unsuspecting advocate to transgender people. His follow on Tedx Talk is nothing short of inspiring.
While associate pastor of Wilshire Baptist Church, a large congregation in Dallas TX, he helped his church navigate a discernment process around LGBTQ+ inclusion. He captured their experiences and learnings in his book Why Churches Need to Talk About Sexuality (Fortress Press, 2019), which is a strong resource to serve other church leaders in this complex endeavor.
Mark earned a journalism degree from the University of New Mexico and worked toward a master of divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Alison, have identical twin sons, both professional jazz musicians and educators.
